Custom fabrics and barstool design for San Francisco Bay ferries
Tasked with coming up with an exclusive upholstery design for the San Francisco Bay Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) ferries, as well as a custom upholstered bar stool, UES Marine, working in close conjunction with the WETA interior designer and fabric supplier, designed, manufactured and delivered the bar stool and a range of 3 unique fabrics, for exclusive use on the WETA fleet.
The Challenge

Design a unique and exclusive upholstery range to meet the fleet’s requirements and capture the essence of WETA.

Design and build an upholstered, round barstool with minimal foot print that retained passenger comfort and met all engineering, safety, security and maintenance requirements.
The Solution

We worked closely with WETA’s interior designer and fabric supplier to curate a range of 3 fabrics to work with elastomeric seats and be unique to the fleet.

The UES Marine design team came a up with a stool design that achieved a minimal footprint at a bar, while ensuring passenger comfort

All seating adheres to U.S. Coast Guard regulations and American Bureau of Shipping class standards for fire-retardant materials for U.S. flag vessels.

Delivered on stringent comfort, engineering, safety, security and maintenance requirements.
The Outcome
- UES Marine provided a marine seating solution that improved the aesthetics and comfort of the WETA ferries and was compliant with all regulations.
