Connecting 67 ports in the Greek domestic market and international routes
Attica Holdings S.A. (Attica Group or Attica) is a leader in the provision of ferry services for passengers and cargo in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Serving more than 60 destinations, connecting 67 ports, in the Greek domestic market and on the international routes.
In the provision of ferry services in the Greek domestic market and on the international routes between Greece and Italy and Morocco with Spain, Attica Group’s brand names, Superfast Ferries, Blue Star Ferries, Hellenic Seaways, ANEK Lines are established in the European maritime transport industry as synonyms of high-end quality ferry services.
The Challenge
- Attica had 89 air seats arranged in a theatre style layout that had come to end of life. Passengers paying for premium comfort were found wanting for a more comfortable solution and a wider range of on board accessories including recline and inbuilt meal tray/cup holder.
- The new seating solution had to follow the current theatre style layout, allowing for easy ingress and egress whilst still allowing passengers to recline for a more comfortable seating position on long journeys. Easy access for every passenger to a meal tray and cup holder was also a mandatory requirement that didn’t impinge on the seat in front, beside or behind
- Ensuring the solution was comfortable yet robust, completely serviceable and durable for long life was also a standard requirement
The Solution
- After initial discussions with the Attica Hotel maintenance team the Luxform range of seating was proposed as the best option given its high back, wide seat, recline and meal tray in arm rest functionality
- Working closely with the fleet hotel maintenance team we designed a custom Luxform Journey solution with additional recline for a more premium customer experience
- With finish feel and durability as a priority a New Zealand wool fabric was chosen as the seat and armrest cover
- Delivered and installed on stringent comfort, engineering, safety, security and maintenance requirements
The Outcome
- UES Marine designed and installed, through close collaboration with Attica, a reimagined air seating solution that has since had extremely positive passenger reviews
- The Luxform Journey seating solution delivers excellence in passenger comfort, appearance and construction that along with UES Marine aftersales and service will continue to delight riders for years to come
Attica engaged UES Marine to custom design, build and install a new solution that would both provide premium levels of comfort for passengers and transform this section of seating to new standards
