Working with Austal USA, UES Marine designed seating to be used by, and accommodate the needs of, United States Naval Ship military personnel onboard the Spearhead Class expeditionary fast transport vessels during deployments.
The Challenge
- To design a robust, low maintenance seat that provides adequate comfort and recline for rest of military personnel, including extending footrest, storage capability and fold out arm mounted meal tray.
-
Critical military maritime infrastructure with stringent comfort, engineering, safety, security and maintenance requirements.
The Solution
-
Using UES Marine modular extrusions a reclining seat was designed that met all requirements of Austal USA and the certifying authorities.
-
Extending footrests were designed with a heavy duty casting and mechanical extension mechanism. A fabric footrest cover was incorporated for comfort and easy replacement, if required.
-
Armrests were designed that were strong, easy to clean and required minimal maintenance.
-
Fold out meal trays on one arm were a single piece of ABS plastic that is durable and light weight
-
An enclosed document storage armrest allows for safe storage of documents.
The Outcome
-
The UES Marine designed seat was installed on 13 Joint High-Speed Vessels
-
Delivered on stringent comfort, engineering, safety, security and maintenance requirements.
Robust, low maintenance military seating designed and installed to meet Austal USA and the certifying authority requirements.
